Hetta Atkins, DNP, ACNP-BC

Dr. Hetta Atkins is a San Antonio native that practices evidence-based medicine with a holistic approach. Providing patient-centered care with knowledge, compassion, and empathy is of the utmost important to Dr. Atkins. Not only does Dr. Atkins educate patients in how to be their own health advocates, but she also assists patients in navigating the complexities of the healthcare landscape. Most recently, Dr. Atkins graduated with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from UT Health San Antonio in 2020. Her higher education pursuits began at the University of Texas at Austin in 2001, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. After this, Dr. Atkins practiced as a bedside nurse in critical care for 10 years with Christus Santa Rosa and Seton Healthcare System. Continuing her education, Dr. Atkins graduated from UT Health San Antonio in 2012, with high honors, as an Advanced Practice Nurse with a Master of Science in Nursing. Dr. Atkins is Board Certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, and as of 2022, she has accrued over a decade of experience in internal medicine and primary care. Dr. Hetta Atkins and her husband have three daughters and three dogs, which keep them very busy. She enjoys spending time with family and friends. Her interests include attending her daughters’ softball games, being outdoors, exercising, and going on long road trips.
